Project: Teach Evolution

Project: Teach Evolution is a NSF funded program designed to integrate biology content with an exploration of the controversy surrounding teaching evolution in the U.S., while using learner-centered instructional strategies appropriate for use in middle and secondary classrooms. This course is directed towards preparing future and practicing teachers for public engagement with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate for evolution education.

A second objective of the project is to build a regional community of evolution educators to provide support for teachers especially in small and rural schools.

The overall goal of the project is to improve evolution education in Missouri’s schools and colleges, and to further Missouri citizens’ understanding of evolution and science in general.
